Privacy Policy
Last updated: May 2026
RoarSpot is built to help fans find watch parties — not to collect or monetise your data. This policy explains exactly what we handle and why, in plain language.
What we collect
When you submit a watch party listing
We collect the venue name, address, match details, and a contact email you provide in the submission form. Your contact email is used only to follow up on your listing — it is never displayed publicly and is not shared with third parties.
When you send a contact message
We collect your name, email address, and the message content. This is used only to respond to your inquiry.
Approximate analytics
When you visit RoarSpot we record a page view that includes:
- The page path visited (e.g.
/or/about) - The referring website domain, if any (e.g.
google.com) — never the full URL - A coarse device type: mobile or desktop, a browser family (e.g. Chrome, Safari, Firefox), and an OS/platform (e.g. iOS, Android, Windows) — all derived from your browser's User-Agent string. The raw User-Agent string is not stored.
- Approximate location — country, province/state, and city — derived from a server-side lookup using your IP address at the time of the request. Your IP address is never stored in our database. The approximate location data is used only to understand which regions RoarSpot is serving.
- Timestamp of the visit
When you interact with the site we record lightweight events such as opening a match, clicking a venue card, requesting directions, or visiting a venue website. These events may include an internal ID (e.g. the match or venue involved) — they never include your personal details, form message contents, or exact GPS coordinates.
What we do NOT collect
- We do not store raw IP addresses in our database.
- We do not store your exact GPS coordinates for ordinary browsing. Browser location is used only within your current session to show nearby watch parties and estimate distance. It is not sent to our servers for analytics.
- We do not require you to create an account.
- We do not track you across other websites.
- We do not sell, rent, or share your personal information with third parties for marketing purposes.
- We do not run advertising networks or let advertisers target you through RoarSpot.
- We do not use analytics to build personal profiles or identify individual visitors.
- We do not use cross-site tracking or browser fingerprinting.
Geolocation — browser GPS
If you tap "Enable location," your browser asks for permission to share your coordinates. RoarSpot uses this only to show nearby watch parties, sort results by distance, and fly the map to your area. Your precise coordinates exist only in your browser session — they are not stored on our servers, not included in analytics, and not sold or shared.
You can deny or revoke location permission at any time from your browser settings without affecting your ability to use the rest of the site.
Cookies and local storage
RoarSpot uses browser local storage for functional purposes only:
- Remembering your theme preference (light / dark / system)
- Remembering whether you have already seen the location permission prompt
We do not use advertising cookies, third-party tracking cookies, or persistent session identifiers.
Third-party services
- Vercel — our hosting provider. Vercel processes requests and provides the approximate geo headers (country, region, city) that we use for analytics. Vercel's infrastructure may log request metadata per their own privacy policy.
- Neon — our managed database provider, where submitted listings, contact messages, and analytics data are stored.
- Geoapify — used to geocode addresses submitted via the listing form (converting a street address to latitude/longitude). Only the address you enter in the form is sent to Geoapify. Your browser GPS is never shared with Geoapify.
- MapTiler — provides the interactive map tiles. When you load the map, your browser fetches tiles from MapTiler's CDN, which may involve standard request logging on their side.
How long we keep data
- Submitted listings and contact messages are kept as long as needed to manage the listing and respond to your inquiry. You can request deletion at any time.
- Analytics page views and events are retained indefinitely in aggregate form to track site health and plan improvements. Because no personal identifiers are stored, individual deletion is not applicable.
Your rights
If you have submitted a listing or contact message and wish to access, correct, or delete that data, email us at hello@roarspot.com. We will respond within 30 days.
Children's privacy
RoarSpot is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has submitted information to us, contact us and we will delete it promptly.
Changes to this policy
We may update this policy when the Service changes. Material changes will be noted at the top of this page with a revised date.
